The solitary Gatehouse-on-the-Point, seen here from below, is located far from the highway. It offers you lakefront privacy, peace and quiet.
The Gatehouse (looking east here from the road's end) is upstairs above a large unoccupied garage. Just beyond is the lake and the peaks of the Purcell mountains.
Entering the Gatehouse you encounter some of the cedar detailing that makes these rooms so unique. This is the view southwest into the sleeping alcove.
This view south out of the kitchen shows the living alcove with a glimpse of the covered front porch at the left.
This view north from the living alcove shows part of the fully equipped kitchen, and the hand-crafted china cabinet at its entrance.
Nothing stands between the Gatehouse porch and the lakeshore but a short forest path and the remarkable stairs down to the lake.
Looking south above Kaslo B.C., the Woodbury peninsula is seen at the right below the Selkirk mountains. The Gatehouse is located on the eastern tip of this forested peninsula.
Beautiful Kootenay Lake is 100 km. long. This view northeast shows the Purcell mountains seen from the highway 20 minutes north of the Gatehouse
